What is Hospice?
Hospice is end of life care for terminally ill individuals. It focuses on comfort, pain management and quality of
life, rather than cure, enabling patents to live each day as comfortably as possible. It provides physical, emotional and spiritual
support for individuals and their loves ones. Hospice services are available in both the home and inpatient settings.
Seating for Hospice
Care
An important aspect of hospice care is the individual’s physical comfort. Proper seating plays a large part in the level of physical
comfort. Elements of proper seating include:
- Comfortable and supportive seating surface- to help reduce pressure and heat and moisture
build up to aid in long term sitting comfort.
- Ability to re-position the body (with use of seat tilt and back recline) to providesupport, redistribute pressure and help manage pain.
- Safety – to provide peace of mind for family and caregivers in order to help
focus on providing the best care and compassion.
